Introduction
Thank you for choosing to order for a pair of made to measure bespoke shoes or boots with Burlesque Blue. We are delighted to accept your special order and to manufacture the product you have chosen; lasted, coloured, shaped and designed uniquely for you. It is very important for Burlesque Blue to get this process absolutely right to ensure that you are fully satisfied with our customer service and with your new shoes or boots when they arrive. Many of our customers have ordered several times from the same bespoke last since they are delighted with the style and bespoke fit, which we have achieved for them. To make sure that your special order meets your needs and that you are fully satisfied; we ask you for detailed information about the size and shape of your feet, and for boots, also your legs. Please appreciate that accurate and correct measurements of you feet and legs are absolutely vital to ensure the correct size and fit of your shoes or boots. It is, therefore, very important that you follow our detailed measuring instructions, and that all measurements are thoroughly checked before being sent to us.
Lasts and Moulds
Lasts are solid moulds, which we need to create before the upper for your shoes or boots can be shaped exactly to the size and shape of your feet. On our bespoke made to measure service, which is a unique and premier service our expert shoemakers even take account of any slight size differences which there might be, between your left and your right foot. This process is highly skilled and time consuming, however using all of the information which you have carefully checked before giving us, you will receive shoes or boots exactly to your specifications which fit you perfectly. With ladies shoes a heel height must be chosen which suits all of your needs since your bespoke last is designed and made to that specific heel height. Heel heights are available from flats up to a 6 (six) inch stiletto without any platform. It is common for a ladies elegant fashion shoe to have a 4 (four) inch stiletto heel with our unique slender stiletto heel finish detailing.
Your First Pair of Bespoke Made to Measure Shoes or Boots
The first pair ordered requires significant time and patience and may involve trial and error until an absolutely perfect fit is achieved. We will contact you by email and/or telephone as you prefer, to check any measurements which we may be concerned about. Our high level of skills and experience mean that some measurement mistakes can be detected by us, however we cannot guarantee this. Even though measurement and accuracy is mentioned above, please consider this as another reminder, to thoroughly check all measurements and outlines before sending them to us.
We will use our skill and manufacturing expertise to achieve an excellent fit with the minimum of fuss to you. When you have followed our instructions as closely and accurately as possible, then together we will be well on the way to ensuring we make and you receive exactly what you want, and what you would never get from any High street shopping experience, shoes made for you and only you.

Please understand that this is an absolutely premier service which involves a significant amount of time, along with the use of absolutely top quality leathers and materials. The premium price which you pay for your very first pair becomes real value when you are delighted with the fit and order on the same last again. Please note that you only pay for the build of your personal last once, you do not need to pay again when other pairs are made for you on the same last. We can even make some minor of modifications without the need to manufacture a completely new personalised last for you.
Foot Measuring Chart Sole Imprint
- Please note that there is a separate foot measuring chart for the Sole Imprint Right Foot and for the Sole Imprint Left Foot. (Please ensure you have completed both of these for us). It is important to be seated, not standing while drawing these outlines. It is much easier to ask a friend or partner to draw around your foot outline. Please follow the instructions shown on the Foot Measuring Charts. You can bend your ankle comfortably and draw the outline with your foot positioned on the floor but with your foot kept flat and level on the floor surface in front of you. (Our experience has shown this makes things much easier particularly if you are doing this by yourself).
- Please use a small nib black felt tipped pen. The pen should be held vertically and the outline should be traced with the pen remaining gently in contact with your foot all the way around. The pen should not be either compressed into your foot or allowed to stray away from your foot. As a check you can do this a few times using a sheet of blank A4 paper, then place one sheet over the other and check that the line drawn is approximately one on top over the other on the check sheet placed below.
- Your foot should be placed on a hard, smooth and level surface, a tiled or wooden floor is ideal. Do not try to draw this on top of a carpeted floor.
- We allow for the ‘half width’ of a normal felt tipped pen since we know that when you follow our instructions the outline will be bigger than your foot by half a pens width all around. This will give you confidence that we will know exactly and have allowed exactly for the size of your foot. Please do not try to keep the tip of the pen next to the skin of your foot, rather do keep the pen vertical all the way around your foot.
- Once you have completed the foot measuring charts and before sending them to us, please do make a copy for your own records.
- We will require the originals to be posted to us and as mentioned above please make and keep your own copy of this and all the other information which you send to us. If you have asked us to telephone you at a particular time then it would be particularly helpful if you have all of this information to hand when we call you.
